Lena is back

In California. It has been over a year I think since our meet-up for her farewell gathering.

I guess I will write a quick blog since I'm on this page anyways. In late June one of my favorite Jacqueline Carey came by on book tour and a local publication had an interview scheduled with her for before the signing and they asked me to conduct it. Amazing. I only had about five minutes to prepare, but I think I asked pretty decent questions.

Right now I am in an art history class at West Valley as well as an archaeological field school over in Santa Cruz. The art history class is really good, except I didn't go today because I missed the bus and decided that since I was going to be late anyways I would just copy the notes from someone tomorrow. The field school is really fun, too, and next weekend will be much better because I will have sunscreen and the other people on site will know what is going on so we don't have to sit around listening to explanations as much.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes out in theaters Wednesday, but I am waiting until my stupid best friend gets back from stupid Washington D.C. in early August. I expect Bruno to be somewhere between decent and hilarious based on reviews, but knowing Harry Potter is showing in the next theater over will be difficult. Bleeeh nerd.

Oh and I burned myself with the nozzle of a hot glue gun, but it is okay because I have a Little Mermaid band-aid. Anyone have anything interesting going on? I know it is difficult to top Disney band-aids, but I haven't heard from a lot of you in a long time.

Finally, another post

Oh my goodness, I haven't posted in here in so long... I'm sorry! I've been lurking instead!

So um... you guys probably have much better weather than I do... it's been drizzly and rainy for most of the week and doesn't look like it'll stop. =(

There's this tradition here that on the first day of May, a lot of teenage guys put crepe-paper decorated birch trees in front of their girlfriend's house. They look somewhat like this (obviously, there are variations in color and how the crepe-paper is attached):

That one's in the village where my grandparents live.

And most villages have a village Maibaum too. You can read about it on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maypole_tradition_in_Bavaria
I know I'm not in Bavaria, but it's pretty much the same here.

And... I don't know. I'm coming back July 6. When will I see you guys?!

I'm almost finished with my end-of-the-year exams. I only have one left.

Hope everyone is doing well!

hi. nee-sa here. sabrina inspired me to post.

school still sucks. still doing radio show.

but the reason i felt obligated to post is because in aprox 4 months i will no longer be a part of the northern california despair faction. well, i'll always be one at heart, at least.

BUT. i'm going to college. either in boston or santa barbara. don't know yet.

and since obviously i have no idea what i'll be doing four years from now after college, i might come back here or i might never be a true norcaldfer AGAIN. AH :(

so basically we need to meet up.

do you guys realize that our last meet-up was lena's going away party?! WHAT ARE WE DOING. i bet our next one will be her welcome home party...when is that silly girl supposed to be coming home anyway?

OC in 3 days!

So I haven't posted on here in a while, I'm listening to Tanya leave an irritating message on a girl's answering machine. I feel kinda bad but I don't like the girl so whatever.
But yeah, as it says in the title, I will be in Southern California in three days. I'm excited, it's going to be like a DF meet up of some sorts. Which speaking of... WHY HAVEN'T WE HAD A MEET UP IN OVER A YEAR? Whatt the hell guys, seriously. I still want to roller skate as our next meetup, or bowling again at a real bowling alley, that was so much fun. We should have one for the summer. Since everyone should be here. The middle of June, maybe?
Also, who's going to Warped in SF? I got presale tickets so I get early entry into the venue and I'm probably going to be hanging around the SKSK tent all day, except for when bands I like are playing. So we should all meet up at some point, that would be awesome as well.

Um, yeah. My life is pretty uneventful, so I don't really have anything else to say. I just thought I needed to update on here because I haven't in 4624590765 years, true fact.

I MISS YOU GUYS!

Anyone going to see IAmX in June? (9th, at Slims SF)
Are you a fan?...because then you should go!
I have one ticket which that means im going alone =[[[
Im still more excited than i've been about a show in a looongass time!

SLIMS SF

I finally got around to posting on placebo fans worldwide again.
I havnt really full-on been on a placebo board in over a year, its nice.
i love cebowhores

I got an amazing bracelet at mountain mikes. yessssss. It goes purty with my cartoon virgin marys.

i am listening to "the clash" right now...by chris corner/iamx (idk whats right for the "Les Chevaliers..." songs)

Um....as far as musical gods go. He is def on top there.
Sorry Brian. Im still getting your face on my leg though....soon!
its weird...

now i'm listening to robots in disguise. They really had to grow on me...they finally did, I like them...but it took a long while. Even though Sue has been a girl-crush of mine for while.

ok im back to listening to the Les Chevaliers Du Ciel soundtrack.

goodnight!

Spring Break is over.

So, I did end up buying my cousin the Franz Ferdinand tickets for his birthday. He is super excited! I am super excited too. I kind of forgot that May was a month though, so I realized after I gave/told him about the tickets that it was two months before his birthday. Which is fine with me. I've just been buying a lot of birthday presents recently. EVERYBODY is born in Spring (except for me, I am a Fall Child (haha)).

Anyway, I just got off of my spring break. I thought that I was going to have to write a four page paper but it's not due until next week, so thats nice. It was early and no one else's matched up with mine. Soooo, I spent the whole time with my parents and/or reading books. If any of you like Sarah Dessen, you should read Megan Maccafferty, and vice versa. If any of you like sci-fi/fantasy, you should not read either of these authors. You should read something like Jacqueline Carey or Juliet Marillier.

All of those books were a bad idea though, because now it's all I want to do and I really need to focus and the end of the semester. There are only, approximately 7 weeks left. My sisters graduation is on the same day as my last day of school, so I need to find out if I have a final that day or not. The problem is not all of my teachers have announced the date for the final. Boo!

Is anyone planning on going to Warped this year? If yes, for who?

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

SO, I, like countless Placebo fans...

are desperate to get their Battle For the Sun Box Set!

I feel better when they tell me they are going to sell their bodies to get theirs, because i don't feel so stupid about wanting it so bad that i could CRY.

I need like 70 more bucks for my box set =[ And its all i've been thinking about.

Want to buy some AFI vans? size 7 in mens.
*facepalm*

ANYWAYS! PLACEBO PREMIERED THEIR NEW SINGLE TODAY!!!! AND IM IN LOVE.
LISTEN:

like it? you can download it for free at placeboworld.co.uk

I was waiting on the computer listening to crap on BBC Radio 1 a little before 12.
Then they started a placebo mix and i couldnt breathe...then brian was talking and my heart was going to pop out of my chest...then they played the song....and i had a heart attack. haha well..most of that was 100% true.

I feel bad how excited I am when i think about Steve H and how i love him and miss him. But there's nothing i can do. I will always love him, he's like a god to me, and i will always love placebo.

I am still looking for a job. eh.
I made a batman cake for rob's b-day today. It was simple. Dark Blue with a yellow BatMan logo out of fondant. But it looked cute.

Sprinkles bit Quiche today...i hella hit her to push her away from him. I feel bad.

I went to see Semi Precious Weapons play at the Apple Store in sf on sunday. It was a fun outing. They were great. I mean they were giving it their all in that fucking store. I wish i could have gone to one of their shows. =[ Justin was a sweetie to me because i was so shy. pfft
They completely raped the store btw....

Anyways, its pretty sad but i havnt been able to think straight since sunday when the box set came out. Its horrible.

Productive ways to spend thirty minutes

One I just discovered- dancing around in my pajamas to a YouTube playlist of the Jonas Brothers in the middle of the night. I have no idea why, but I really wanted to and it made me very happy.

I know I haven't posted in a long while. It isn't for lack of wanting to, just for lack of having anything interesting to talk about. Now I can post about dancing around my room to Disney Pop, which everyone should view as interesting news. Well I'm sure it would have been interesting to watch at any rate.

School is going well. My high school econ teacher spent about ten minutes telling us how to fill out a graduation form that had exactly three blanks: First Name_______ Middle Name ________ Last Name________. Ten minutes. Then after that we had a simulation for sixth graders. The rest of my classes are either easy or fun, though, so I'm enjoying this semester. Except for the whole watching my college fund get smaller and smaller with each stupid stock market thingy. If I had x dollars last month and I didn't do anything, I should have x dollars this month! Boo! By the way, I think that it should be an idication of my econ teacher's lessons that my knowledge of stocks extends to 'the stupid stock market thingy.'

I really don't get economics. At all. I only get that it is making me poorer, and I don't like that one bit. Also I don't like the fact that I've wanted argyle socks since I was in early elementary school and I've never owned a pair.

Anyways, I'll try to post more often, but I probably won't.

Thursday, February 26, 2009

SO! IM a loser who cant drive.

BUT i got my permit so im gonna learn and FAST! haha I'm a daydreamer so i don't know how this will work out. eek.

quick "blog"

I am seeing the Jonas Brothers "movie" tonight...at midnight. $15 a ticket, crazy. But we're set on it.

Anyone going to the Semi Precious Weapons instore at the Apple Store in SF? in 2 weeks?
I cant go to their actual shows (21+) but this should be fun.

OH and i am currently excited about IAMX in JUNE! I'm serious this time. I have a blog a few months back saying i was going to see them but it didnt happen that time around! And now i'm SO OVER missing iamx shows! =[ SO this time i wont let anything stop me! JUNEJUNEJUNEJUNEJUNE is so far away.

all for now, i need to go take Sprinkles to the vet. nasty pup. haha

-lucy-
Soooo, I've been absent for a while. I haven't been doing anything super amazing just going to school. I have a class this semester about the Middle East and North Africa that is pretty intense. It's a good class just a really heavy work load. I haven't really been going out and doing things though, which makes me sad. I feel like I haven't seen anyone perform in a ridiculously long time.

To remedy this I am going to go see Chris Isaak perform for free at Amoeba on Haight Monday. I can't decide how excited I am about this. My friend that I'm going with wants to get there super early, which is fine with me but I'm worried that I'm going to get really bored. Besides that, while I'm a fan of Chris Isaak, it's not like I know all of his music, just a pretty good percentage. But, then again, I'm excited because I've always wanted to see Chris Isaak live, but never thought it would be something that would happen. Anyway, does anyone else like Chris Isaak?

In other news, Franz Ferdinand is playing soon in Oakland, which I would like to go to. I want to take my cousin because he's a fan and hasn't been to what I consider a real show yet (he's only 12), but tickets are 35 dollars which is a bit steep. So, I don't know if that's going to happen.

Sunday, February 22, 2009

OH HAI.

someone else needs to post because the last like five posts are mine. maybe four. but still.

uh.........my life is kind of shitty right now...just a lot of small shitty things combining into one big shitty mess.

i mentioned in a comment just now that i went back to mac a couple days ago to get another lip conditioner in "popster" because i've fallen in love with it, and once i run out of the one i bought last week i wanted to have another...so now i have another one haha. but i got THE last one that the store had, so i felt really awesome about that haha.

also, my latest obsession is trying to somehow get a hold of Make up Store brand makeup...the only places it's available in the u.s. are miami and denver...someone find an online place or somewhere where i can GET THIS I NEED IT. http://www.makeupstore.se/usen/home.php

my other latest obsession is freezepop. go and listen to them, they are AWESOME. so, so awesome. i love them.

also, my show is tonight from 6-8 at piratecatradio.com...so listen in on that...in a month or so (if things go as planned) i should be getting my own show and moving to saturday from noon-2. i'll keep y'all updated on that.

Thursday, February 12, 2009

AH AH AH AH !!!!!

HELLO KITTY FOR MAC IS IN STORES TODAY!!!!!!!!!

yeah, i definitely left school at 11:45 and sped to the mall to get to the mac store... lol.

the store was packed, and it took forever to get helped...they were already sold out of a few itmes! mostly lipsticks.

but i got the lip conditioner in "popster," the eye palette in "too dolly," and the beauty powder in "tahitian sand."

all the boxes they come in have an hk print on the outside and inside...and the packaging on the actual products is TO DIE FOR SO SO SO CUTE. you can't really tell on the website, but the plastic packaging is actually black with pink glitter in it. AH SO FUCKING CUTE. basically, they make it look like little girl toy makeup, but it's real makeup. also the beauty powders and blushes are pressed with a hello kitty face imprint. the whole thing is a huge step up from the disaster that was the dame edna packaging (with the stickers that all fell off...). ANYWAY, i will come back and edit this post with pics once i take them.

didn't get any brush sets, brush cases, cosmetic cases, bags, or the plush figure...might regret that once it all sells out, but really i didn't need any of it.

YAYZ.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

aight.

okay so i'm going to post a real blog, too, i didn't want to just come on here to plug my show haha.

uh. kay. so school sucks, i want to move out of my house really bad.

boys are kind of stupid sometimes, and when you find the good ones, they always end up being off-limits for some reason or another.

i'm really really sick right now. and i can't really hear very well because my ears/nasal passages are all congested.

i have a lot of homework i need to do right now!

valentine's day is this saturday and i have no plans, and i'm kind of sad about that :(

OH, i got the zu "special gift" keychain recently...it's pretty cool, i guess.

add me on twitter www.twitter.com/_cheeseburger

i was just asleep from like 2-7 so it doesn't feel like it's really SEVEN O CLOCK. it feel earlier.

i'm sad, because i've realized that i have no friends at school anymore. i leave before lunch, so i never see them anymore. and i don't have classes with any of them. and on weekends, i'm always at work so i never get to hang out with anyone. i mean, i have friends, i just never get to see them. i only get to talk to them on the phone. lame.

dating someone you work with: good idea or bad idea? (this relates to the nice boys are always off limits thing haha)

i need your opinion, though, seriously.

i got the new mc lars cd realllyyy early because i'm awesome and i went and saw him a couple weeks ago and got it signed. mc lars is awesome and i think we're going to get married.

right now i'm super into fischerspooner, santogold, she wants revenge, and mc lars. and also that new eminem song "crack a bottle". it's really really legit.

college is making me stressed out a lot.

i think i'm going to go back to sleep, and now i'm just rambling about nothing anyway.

i miss all you guys! seriously! wah!!!! i want to meet up. lets actually plan something this time haha.

i don't really want to post about this again, but...

alrighty, so by now i think you all know i work at this radio station in the mission called pirate cat radio.

basically, i desperately need bands to book for interviews and performances for my radio show.

it's every sunday, 6-8pm.

i was thinking if lucy was at all interested, i could get your band on sometime....? (lemme know what you think)

this is a really good opportunity for small, local bands to get their name out and plug shows.

for interviews, it's great to have the whole band, but if it doesn't work out, we can still interview just a few band members. for live performances, neighborhood noise restrictions require that everything be acoustic (NO full drum kits, NO amplifiers, NO electric guitars/bass, etc)...sometimes this works out to be kind of cool, sometimes not. for bands that usually MUST be full-on plugged in, it's better to just do an interview.

for interviews, we ask that bands bring in their own music, as well as music they like (and their influences, etc), so that they can share with the listeners what they like to listen to.

i need to book things at least two weeks in advance, and right now i'm looking to book bands a.s.a.p., and through the end of march.

I need suggestions and contact information for bands you'd like to see on, or if you know someone in a band that would like to be on, give me their email so i can set something up.

we're looking for any type of music/genre.

also, if you happen to know any stand-up comedians, poets, or spoken word artists in the area, we might be interested.

for more info about the station, go to www.piratecatradio.com.

thanks for any help, guys!

i feel like blogging about today....

or at least what i consider "blogging" haha.

Today was hella fun. Me, sandy and Rob went to the Chuck E Cheese's in San Jose because we are hella cool.
I love that one. And it was sweet because today the kids that were there were hella tiny so they couldnt really play anything so it was just teenagers and older parents/people who were all over the games...so we fit in. haha.
But DAMN i love the games at this CEC they are SO addicting!!
We got 1,800 tickets but didnt want anything in the end.
Then we had veggi chili dogs and said "faggot" too many times.

and, Rock of Love Bus, you all fans?
I loves it more than any of the other ones.
Ashley is so frickin' hilarious! i LOVE her! A-BOMB!!!!!!
And Brittanya is hot.

And join my ass in Livermore!!!!!

i went to stanford with my best friend Po on monday. We dont see each other that much, sucks. But we are changing that. It took us a while, because Po is hilarious. Anyways, she bought this hoodie/dress at American Apparel and i WANT! Im like "um when i get money, im gonna buy this too..in the exact same color..just to let you know ahead of time." haha Then we ate some Sprinkles of course. Then Po bought hella makeup at Sephora and i was jealous becasue i had $2.

I also decided i need a boyfriend in the next few days because i saw the cutest Valentines day Betsey Johnson watch. haha!!

My brother and his boyfriend are getting each other "practical gifts" for valentines day, which makes sense but i dont know...i'd want my bf to get me crazy shit on v-day.

I'll think of more interesting stuff later.

I miss my best friend...

...but I think she left me for some guy. I haven't heard from her in a couple weeks and when I did briefly hear from her she was kinda rude.

Why do guys have to come between friends? I don't care if she's dating or not, but I do wish she wouldn't devote herself ENTIRELY to the guy. Oh. Well.

Anyhow, how is everyone?

P.S. Happy February!!!

January

Hello everyone.
Somehow, we didn't update this blog very often this month. I haven't posted at all. So, a quick recap:

Beginning of the month was the last half of Christmas vacation. I was in München (Munich) over New Year's to visit my aunt.

School started on Wednesday, the 7th. But the Friday after that I got sick. I had a headache, fever, chills, etc. Saturday I was fine, Sunday I felt like crap. Monday was fine again. Tuesday was the worst, so I went to the hospital for that day (the 13th), where I was diagnosed with pneumonia and got antibiotics per IV. So then I had to stay home for the rest of the week. I feel better now, though.

I wanted to watch the Inauguration (it would have been at 6pm for me), but I had to go to a dermatologist. I didn't have an appointment, which sucked, because I had to wait for 2 1/2 hours. But what I went there for is fixed now too.

I got my report card on Friday.

I visited friends in former East Germany this weekend. They used to live in California, but then they moved back to Germany. They have five boys, so their house is rarely quiet. The father is my sister's godfather.

What else? Hmm... oh, my mother is coming to visit me in about two weeks. We're going to celebrate Karneval together.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Lena

Anyone have twitter (besides Lucy and Sabrina)?

http://twitter.com/_cheeseburger

yeeyeah.

Friday, January 23, 2009

i'm having a solo night in tonight with a hot cup of tea, dvds on the laptop, and cheese pizza on the way.

i can't wait until i'm 18, because then i can try out for reality tv shows. i want to go on parental control. bad.

also, i can't wait until i have my own house to decorate. i want to buy wall hangings and area rugs :(

anyway, so finals are over; my life is officially a joke. i'll be going to school from 8-1145 from now on. school in the mornings, work at night. i need to find a part-time job. any suggestions? i think i want to send my resume to this bakery in the town next to me that specializes in high-end cupcakes. they are really delicious, though (they were the ones i brought to lena's going away picnic)...

i'm planning on soliciting my makeup artistry services for the upcoming winter ball/deb ball/prom season...also i'm going to go and sell a bunch more clothes to buffalo exchange soon.

speaking of that, my best friend
"mentioned" today that she's going to be a deb. she tried to be sly, like she had told me, but she totally had not. and she's not inviting me. idk what's u, but something fishy is going on. idk if it's because she's embarrassed or what, but the whole thing is weird because she never told me for some reason (?).

whateva.

i'm going to the academy of sciences tomorrow, which will be awesome. i want to see the albino alligator! and my friend's cousin is a security guard there and he's going to get us in the back for free haha.

and then february's going to be nuts, jet-setting month. i'm going to hawaii for a few days at the beginning of the month and then san diego for the first time in forever over presidents day.

suddenly, my life just got a whole lot simpler. hello, second-semester-senioritis.

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

How was your inaugural experience?

I watched from my living room in my jammies. Not the most exciting, but it was still a completely amazing moment in my life. Having faith in my government is really an unfamiliar concept for me.

I know some of you went out to watch the event, and I want to hear about it.
