the 12-hour field trip from HELL:
so. i left the house this morning at 6:15 am to be at school in time, because the buses were leaving at 6:30. and i didn't get back to school until 6:15 pm. NOT FUCKING KIDDING.
YEAH. 2 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES LATE, SON!
AND keep in mind that only THREE (3) of those TWELVE (12) hours were spent at the desitiantion......the other NINE (9) were spent on a NINETY (90) degree, sticky plastic seat bus in the middle of bumper-to-bumper traffic with no air flow moving through the bus whatsoever. OMIGOD THERE WERE LIKE PUDDLES OF SWEAT ON EVERYONE'S SEATS.
we thought we were going to die...which resulted in a few pretty funny pics that'll be up on facebook in the next few days....
(lucy, i called you from the bus home at one point...)
so, for french we went to "language day" at the language defense institute (idk what it's called) in monterey, and it's where military people learn languages, so it's on a military base.
the ride there was alright, i just slept the whole time. other than the fact that i got extremely sunburned, the place was really fun, and they had super great food.
but then the ride home came. omigod.
what i don't understand, though, is that the spanish bus from our school (i was on the french bus) left monterey after us, but got back home an hour before us.
so anyway, we get on the bus - its hot, but at least since we're on the freeway there's a breeze coming though the windows. then, we just hit a wall of traffic, basically.
and it's still like over 80 degrees OUSIDE, so INSIDE the bus was even hotter.
i swear to god, we had all soaked through the butts of our pants because the plastic seats were making us sweat so much.
we tried to pass the time with hangman, taking random photos, drawing, origami...ANYTHING to keep our minds off the fact that everyone on the bus is out of water and we're basically ging to die in the middle of the freeway.
finally we got to fremont. we were finally in an identifiable city, not just endless hills of dry, brown grass.
but then we got off the freeway.
wha...?
what the fuck, we're already super late, so now you're going to try to make some shortcut that's going to get us lost and we're going to die. and THEN, at the same time, a girl on the bus was having some sort of heat sickness, so we had to stop at a gas station, but that turned into mini trips to the nearby jamba juice, starbucks, and noah's. so there goes another half hour.
the sick girl stayed with her mom in fremont, and her dad came to pick them up.
so basically, we started out with a full bus, and lost two people because it got SO INTENSE that they couldn't handle it.
so. we find the freeway again, hit the all-too-familiar wall of traffic. and we pass a cemetary. we are certain that this is some kind of omen. like, um, YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE ON THAT 90 DEGREE STICKY, HOT, SWEATY BUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AH!
it is seriously the most miserable thing i have experienced in a REALLY REALLY really long time.
the only way you can fully understand how bad it all was, was if you were there. although i did leave messages on a few people's phones, explaining that i was going to die on this bus in the middle of nowhere.
we get a call from people on the spanish bus that they have arrived back at miramonte, meanwhile we are stuck in...guess what? a WALL OF TRAFFIC going through the main vein of hayward.
we finally got to the freeway, and got home eventually....people cheered when we got to the caldecot tunnel...
i mean. it was SO FUCKING REDICULOUS. i can't even beleive how this whole thing went down. it was so hot (obviously), we had no water ar anything (for a while), and if you didn't already pick this up, we all thought we were going to die of heat stroke right there. we had already stripped down to the most minimal amount of clothing we all could. people were lying on the floor of the bus, waiting to die. you couldn't even sleep if you wanted to because it was so hot.
i don't evenknow what else to say, except to reiterate the fact that this whole ordeal spanned a total of twelve hours.
yes.
i need to go to bed now.

Yeah sorry! my phone was dying so i threw it in my room and didnt see the missed call until 10pm ;/
haha that's okay. we were al basically going through our phonebooks leaving random messages and using eachothers phones to prank call people so they wouldn't recognize the number. anything's entertaining when you're on a bus for five hours.
